Is Cesar Padilla Corrupt?

I came across this info recently. It seems one of the Hillsborough county Commissioners Kevin White was attempting to bribe Hillsborough County Transportation Interim Commissioner Cesar Padilla for a political payoff.White has been pushing the TPC to double Padilla's salary to $100,000. Why? White had a campaign advisor named Victor DiMaio who Padilla subsequently hired as a lobbyist for $5,000 a month. Some things never change.Does Padilla know how little money the taxi drivers are making at this time because of the climate created by his agency. What makes him worth this much money paid for by fines to cab drivers for not wearing collared shirts and having dirty cabs. This agency needs reform...not more graft. After John Cox, I really thought that would happen.

At the last Public Transportation Commission meeting, board chairman Kevin White suggested hiring a lobbyist to handle legislative matters. Now, a little more than two weeks later, the agency has a lobbyist: Victor DiMaio, who was a consultant on White's winning campaign for the Hillsborough County Commission last year.White said he had nothing to do with hiring DiMaio. He simply told Cesar Padilla, interim executive director of the PTC, to find someone familiar with the commission, which licenses taxis, limousines and tow trucks.Padilla said he settled on DiMaio."He's been affiliated with the industry for a number of years," Padilla said. "He knows our laws and our rules. It was a short period of time. He fit the profile."He said White, who last month pushed for the PTC to more than double Padilla's salary to $100,000 when he made the leap from chief inspector to interim executive director, never mentioned DiMaio to him.

Smells like a skunk to me. These crooked bastards need to be dealt with. Taxi drivers in Tampa need to put them in their place. I'm so pissed I need to leave. CROOKED POLITICIANS...I can't stand 'em.

Wow here we go again. New blog but same old stuff. Ge me interested than nothing since my birthday. Which was Tuesday. A ripe old age of 67. Seems like the commission needs some new blood in there that is for sure. Maybe not a good idea to try and convince the Insurance Company of United to let me drive. 70 hours worked for a net of $280.00 With the gas down to 1.61 that even makes it worse. Keep plugging in their thing will get better or so the new presss says. UC157 Larry

guess everyone missed the PTC making a move to amend the job requirements in law so Padilla's position can be made permanent.

On the subject of the PTC attempting to change their law (the Special Act) (reason why they're paying DiMaio $60k a year), DiMaio tried to run a scam by Rep Scionti & got him to back a change in the law which would of allowed the PTC to enact any rules unchecked. That's right boys & girls, the PTC's rulemaking must conform with State Rulemaking law. Just the suckers under the PTC's thumb are too stupid to read the laws in the 1st place & allow them to do what the hell they want.

Back on subject.... So DiMaio sucker punches Scionti into sponsoring this bill to amend the law & a couple of us go on the attack & contact Scionti. Well, after explaing that the law gives the PTC's rules the force & effect of law whereas they can toss a driver into jail for not wearing a tie if the rules stated driver's must wear one, Scionti did an about-face & pulled his sponsorship.

Bottom line, those who are either too stupid to read the laws and/or too farking lazy to confront this agency get exactly what they are willing to fight for.
